Barack Obama or the victory of democracy
It's now confirmed, Barack Obama will be the 44th president of the United States.
As he appears like a mix between Denzel Washington and Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama seduced America. This is, for various reasons, a beautiful typical American victory like that could only happen in the United States (even if it has not always been the case).
We may say that America is making amends for one part of its history which still has consequences today. But I don't intend to speak about the racial aspect here. Others will do it better than me.
I should say that for me, this election is the symbol of the fulfillment of the American Dream.
Not the 50's white American Dream (you know, car, house, little family and washing machine...). No, the other one. The first colonists' American Dream about a new world where a man could elevate himself to the highest levels, thanks only to his own capacities, his own merits. Not because he belongs to some influent family, not because he has money. Just thanks to himself and his hard work.
And that's why today Amarica has just elected a man, still unknown a while ago, half black half white, half american, half kenyan. And this man, today, represents hope for America and maybe (I hope) a positive development in fundamental attitudes all around the world.
All of this through his own merits. And perhaps also because he has a natural magnetism like Kennedy or Martin Luther King. Watch your back Barack!
